DPNM Responds to Arizona Immigration Law

At the spring meeting of the State Central Committee, the following floor resolution was introduced from the floor of the body and passed unanimously by the body's membership:

"Whereas New Mexicans with a proud tradition of diversity, will no longer have the liberty to travel freely within Arizona solely using their drivers licenses for identification as a result of Governor Brewer and the legislature of Arizona having enacted legislation that clearly violates civil rights.

Be it resolved that the Democratic Party of New Mexico supports the efforts of President Obama and Governor Richardson to protect the civil rights of ALL people within our Nation's border."
